Fostering a Pet

Fostering a  pet is a commitment, a journey, an invitation to co-create a few weeks, months or years with another sentient being.

It’s a calling to not only usher an animal into their next family unit, it’s an agreement to be open to the human you will become in the process.

Most of our animals in need of a safe place to land have no known history that comes with them. As your time together evolves in the fostership container, it may become obvious that they need more than you can currently provide.

But never fear, if you are drawn to an animal to foster, there is a journey that will perfectly unfold to reveal even better versions of both of you!

Are you committed to do what it takes? Are you fully willing to meet any possible shadow or tenderness that arises through your journey with a foster animal?

Many of our animals are easy to foster. What if you bring one home that, once they feel safe with you, and safe in your home, they also feel safe to transmute past experiences?

This can look like sudden or evolving “behavior issues,” changes in eating habits or any other changes in their routine.

This could be a good sign, a desire to fully embody their experience with your help! And then reach out to us for support.

We collaborate with a variety of professional trainers, behaviorists and alternative therapy specialists that we can connect you with to bring your foster animal into a more balanced way of living. A way of life that magnetizes their new family!

When you become a foster pet parent, we provide all the support, supplies, veterinary care. You provide the love and the clean, stable, safe home until that pet is adopted.

To foster a dog or cat, please fill out  the Foster Application and wait for us to contact you.

If you don’t hear from us in a few days, please follow up through the email below. Those email gremlins may have eaten your homework, making it hard for us to find your application!

Lulu Needs a Foster or Forever Home:

This girl right here is why we exist.

This girl who exemplifies all the delightful things of Dogs and who has yet to land in a spot perfect for her.

Lulu was most likely used for breeding and then discarded like so many other Good Dogs are here in Philly. Left to fend for herself in a park during the coldest week of winter, she somehow survived by scrounging for food scraps and possibly sleeping in an abandoned house.

We are still in awe that she survived it all and finally was trapped by our volunteers. One of our friends made space in her basement and we fortunately found a foster the day the basement began to flood from a rainstorm the night before.

In those early days, Lulu was so tired it was difficult to get a good understanding of who she really was at first. Now that some time has gone by and she has received full medical care and found safety with our friends, we feel we understand her a bit more.

Lulu loves to hike as she’s an adventurer at heart. She also loves to cuddle with her human while dreaming about more adventures.

She has had great dog meets, though we would definitely take things slow. She hasn’t met smaller kids but has met an older kid, so we think kids over 12 yrs old would be great while we are getting to know her.

We definitely need a cat free home for her. She is residing with one now who she isn’t doing well with.

She loves toys and can solve puzzles faster than a toddler. She snores adorably when she sleeps. Lulu is petite and as pretty as they come!

She just needs a little finesse, she just needs stability! Lulu urgently needs a committed foster with no cats now! Her current foster says she is a perfect little dog and just needs a cat free home. Fosters get first dibs at adopting! Please, if you have room in your heart and your home, Lulu needs a space to stay a while. Or forever.

We are offering two ways for you to bring this girl home:

  • straightforward adoption – apply HERE

  • foster-to-adopt – use the Foster Application button below
